The Fermenting Cellar is an absolutely stunning wedding venue located in the heart of the Distillery District in the east end of Downtown Toronto.

As the name implies, it's part of the couple of buildings that used to distill whiskey in Toronto around the turn of the century (there's even some of the original machinery left in place!).   The entire site has undergone a massive revitalization in the last 20 years taking it from a derelict industrial area to a vibrant cultural hotspot with shopping, galleries, restaurants, condos and several amazing event spaces including Fermenting Cellar, Archeo and the Stirling Room.

The space itself is a little unassuming from the outside but once you enter it's another story.   It's a massive empty space of over 7500 square feet that retains much of the feel of it's industrial past.  The basic layout is sort of an L shape that can accommodate anywhere from 200 to 350 people depending on what you have planned.  Most couples use the long side of the L as the reception space and the short part of the L for the ceremony and cocktail hour.

I've shot many weddings at the Fermenting Cellar over the years and what always strikes me about the space is the dramatic uplighting most couples opt for on the walls.  It really gives the space a vibrant and modern feel... and it looks AMAZING in pictures.   Check out the very first image on my website to see what I mean!

I photographed Renee + Ian's stunning wedding at the Fermenting Cellar back in 2014 but it remains one of my absolute favourites.   Their wedding was even published in Wedding Bells magazine!  You can also check out the wedding album we designed with their beautiful wedding photographs.

More recently, I photographed Danni + Felipe's fun wedding at the Fermenting Cellar in 2016. Again, one of my all-time favourite weddings... but that's mostly due to those two, and their friends and family.  Their wedding was also featured on the WeddingBells website.

Check out a slideshow from their wedding below.
