Cambridge Wedding Photography

Photograph of a flower girl posing with the bride during a wedding a the Butterfly Museum in Cambridge, Ontario by Scott Williams of www.scottwilliamsphotographer.com

Here's a wedding photograph I like from a wedding I second shot with Ben Benvie in Cambridge, Ontario at the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory.  While the bride and the flower girl were posing for Ben I loved the contrast of the two dresses and the barefoot flower girl standing amongst the petals.

The Fuji X Pro 1 did an amazing job with the colours, this is a JPG straight out of the camera!

Check back soon for more images from this wedding!

Corporate Headshots

Emerson Climate Technologies

Was contact by Emerson Climate Technologies for some head shots of their sales & Marketing team to help boost their online and social media presence.

They wanted a more environmental feel to the photographs instead of a standard backdrop so we used their client training centre as well as their boardroom for the session.

If your company needs a more professional look for your staff's head shots please give me a call!

Langdon Hall Wedding Photography

Angelica + Luke

I had an amazing time at Angelica + Luke’s wedding a couple weeks ago at Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario.

Even some pretty nasty weather couldn't knock the smiles from their faces as they enjoyed every single minute of their intimate 17 person wedding. They were joined by family who travelled all the way from New York and Sault Ste Marie.   I want to thank Angelica, Luke and all their guests for making the 18th wheel feel like a part of the family for the day.  :)

Dinner was served in the Colonel Langdon room and the food at Langdon Hall is second to none… well, maybe to second to the amazing service. I photograph weddings at a lot of different wedding venues in Toronto and throughout Ontario and I’m constantly amazed at the Langdon Hall staff's commitment to providing an outstanding experience at their weddings.  Which is exactly what you would expect with Langdon Hall being one of only 14 Relais Chateaux hotels in all of Canada does.

The wedding ceremony was performed by Al Harder from Kettle Creek Weddings… easily my favourite officiants to work with.

Sonia did an amazing job with the makeup as well as Kari Fisher with the hair!

Here are a few of my favourite images from their wedding, you can see their Waterloo engagement session here!

Please check back soon for their full Langdon Hall wedding slideshow as well as  link to their full gallery of wedding photographs.

Steamwhistle Brewery Wedding Album

Kelly + Mike

I loved Kelly + Mike's wedding at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto so much that I decided to feature their wedding as one of my sample wedding albums I show to new clients.

The album is going to be an Essex book from Renaissance Albums, IMHO the best wedding album company on the planet!

This past year I made the switch from including the full resolution digital files to instead including a custom designed bespoke wedding album.  This digital stuff is great but I really worry that 50 years from now our grandkids will have no pictures to look at.   Wedding albums and prints are future proof... no DVD or thumb drive required!

There's still something special about being able to physically hold a picture (or album!) in your hand, there's a deeper connection to the images than just pixels flashing on a screen.

New business cards!

It seemed like such a great idea at the time, ditch the old Capturing the Light branding and switch over to Scott Williams Photographer... make my business more about me and the work I do with my clients.   Much as I liked the old name 8 years ago when I was just getting into wedding photography it doesn't really reflect my business anymore ( plus, I hate it. :) )

As I got started it slowly dawned on me how much work it was going to be... new portfolio website, new logos, new email addresses, new sample wedding albums, new price lists, new everything.  And never mind all the stuff I have lying around with the old branding on it... anyone want to start a Toronto wedding photography business called 'Capturing the Light'?  :)

Now that all the online stuff is pretty much set up, the physical/tangible items are finally getting a new look.  First up... new business cards!

These are the new Luxe line from Moo.com and I'm really happy with them.  They're essentially 3 cards sandwiched together with the middle one being an accent colour.... which for me meant a black, white or a shade of grey.  :)

They feel really nice in the hand, definitely high end which is what you want but without having to sell one of my kids organs to pay for them.  Even the packaging is really nice!

As a side note, the pictures were a great chance to try out the 60 mm macro lens on the Fuji X Pro 1 that Fujiflm Canada has lent me to try out!   More to come on the Fuji camera in a later post!

Toronto Downtown Engagement Photography

Jennifer + Conan

Spent the afternoon hanging in downtown Toronto out with Jennifer + Conan for their engagement session.  We hit all their favourite neighbourhood spots... the St. Lawrence Market, Pravda Bar (where they met), their favourite coffee shop and a few local parks.

Really looking forward to photographing their wedding next summer at the Ancaster Old Mill!

Toronto Engagement Photography

Nicole + Bobby

Had a great day hanging out with Nicole and Bobby for the their engagement session in Mississauga.  Started out at the University of Toronto Mississauga campus (where they met!) and then headed around the corner to Erindale Park where Bobby proposed.

Can't wait to shoot their wedding in 2014!

Kitchener Event Photographer | Tannery Event Centre

Hilary's Birthday Party!

Had the pleasure of being asked to photograph Hilary's birthday party at the Tannery Event Centre in downtown Kitchener!

Hilary is an amazing portrait photographer running One for the Wall in Waterloo so it was a real honour for her to put her trust in me.  She was inspired by Oprah's birthday party and wanted to go all out and honour those that shaped the last 40 years of her life!

The whole night was planned and pulled off by Jolean from Struck Events who did an amazing job!

The evening started off with a dinner catered by Bingemens with members of WINC Waterloo, a group of women entrepreneurs based in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Then the rest of the guests arrived for an amazing night of dancing & partying with my friend Jasmyn from Olympic Sound spinning the tunes.

Toronto Wedding Photography | 99 Sudbury

Evelyn + Wayne

Evelyn + Wayne had an amazing fall wedding at 99 Sudbury, which is a really cool, open concept wedding venue in downtown Toronto.

A huge thank you to Ben Benvie for doing an amazing job second shooting that day!

Evelyn & Wayne are both chefs who moved from BC to Toronto two months before their wedding to begin working on opening their first restaurant... talk about busy.  They had an amazing group of friends and family from all over... Hong Kong, California, Seattle.

Of course with these two being chefs the food that night was amazing but the real showstopper was the cake.  Hands down the coolest  wedding cake I've ever seen.  It designed as a stack of their favourite cookbooks but the covers and images were all photos on the icing or edible paper or something.   Either way, it was cool.

Check out their slideshow below and hit this link to see some of their Toronto engagement pictures at the Distillery District.
