Hesseland Inn Wedding Photographer

Rebecca + Jeff

Rebecca & Jeff's wedding at the Hessenland Inn on the shores of Lake Huron was one of my favourite weddings of the year!

Rebecca was a bridesmaid from Nicole + Bobby's wedding last year so there was an automatic comfort level for all of us working together!  Plus, we did some great engagement pictures you can see here.

It was my first time photographing a wedding at the Hessenland Inn and I have to say it's an amazing venue.  The reception room is an old stone barn and the bridal suite is in the converted silo with amazing views!

After everyone was ready and looking great, we headed across the grounds for an outdoor wedding ceremony.  The weather forecast hadn't been looking great all day, and there was a brief moment it looked like we might be getting wet during the ceremony, but my lucky habits foot worked again and it blew past us.

Hessenland Inn has access to a great beach so after some portraits with the families and the wedding party I took Rebecca + Jeff down there for some portraits of just the two of them.

The reception had everything... great speeches, great food, great party, great tornado.... Yep.

The weather held out out for the ceremony and pictures but once the reception started it was a full blown thunderstorm for most of the night.  At one point, during one of the fathers speeches the normal sounds of rain, thunder & lighting were replaced by about 15 seconds of a loud roar.   We all kind of paused and looked up, half expecting the roof to come flying off but it quickly passed.  The worst of the damage was several big trees on the property knocked down!

Windsor Wedding Photography

Lesley + Drew

I made the long drive down the 401 for Lesley + Drew's autumn wedding in Windsor, Ontario.

Lesley and Drew got ready in houses just down the road from each other... literally!  Lesley and Drew's house is only 3 doors down from her parents!

The wedding ceremony was held at the Fogolar Furlan and then we headed out for some portraits at the Windsor waterfront and Willistead Park.

99 Sudbury Wedding

Emilie + John

Emilie and John had an amazing autumn wedding at 99 Sudbury in Toronto!

Okay there was a brief moment during the day when it sucked for me.  I dropped some very expensive camera gear and it wound up in many more pieces than it should have been... but hey, that's what insurance and back up gear are for!

We started the day at the Gladstone Hotel in their amazing Tower Suite room!  The room is massive, over two levels and even has its own rooftop terrace which we used for Emilie + John's first look.

Emilie and the bridesmaids makeup was done by Elite Beaty Makeup.  Once everyone was looking great and we had done the big reveal, we took a classic Rolls Royce limo to Liberty Village for some wedding portraits with the bridal party, families and the couple!  We finished up with a few more portraits at 99 Sudbury just before the wedding ceremony began.

The wedding ceremony and reception were great but the party afterwards was amazing... great group of friends and family partying the night away!

Some of my favourite pictures are posted above and the full wedding slideshow is below.

Ancaster Mill Wedding

Haley + Stephen

Haley and Stephen had a great autumn wedding at the Ancaster Mill in Southern Ontario.

These two own and operate an AMAZING restaurant in Toronto called The White Brick Kitchen.  Seriously, check out the menu... I can't wait to eat there!  We actually wound up doing their engagement pictures there (check back to the blog soon for those!).

Haley started the day at her Aunts house in Hamilton getting hair and make up done with her bridesmaids... and their dog.  :)   Stephen and the boys got ready at nona's house which was literally just down the road... nice and easy for me!  It's always a bonus when the bride and groom get ready close together, it allows me to just bounce back and forth and get more coverage of the guys.

Once everyone was ready and looking great we headed out to Canterbury Falls, an amazing waterfall just down the road from the Ancaster Mill, for their first look.  First looks, or reveals, are such a great idea since it allows you to get the formal portraits out of the way before the ceremony which helps with the flow of the day (allowing your guests to go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour) as well as to get the big reveal done and settle the nerves.  :)

From there it was over to Ancaster Mill for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and then into the Ancaster Mill for cocktail hour after a few quick family portraits.

Since these two were both chefs, they wanted something very specific for their meal at the reception... in this case, it was some of their favourite comfort foods served family style.   Fried chicken, beef sliders and even a  soft serve ice cream machine for desert.

Stratford Bruce Hotel Wedding

Josh + Paul

Small, intimate weddings are definitely becoming some of my favourites and Josh + Paul's wedding at the Bruce Hotel in Stratford, Ontario was no exception.

First off, the new Bruce Hotel is amazing and dinner was easily one of the best meals I've ever had in my life.  So there's that.   And then the wedding itself was great.  Josh + Paul helped each other get ready which was really nice and started the whole day off on a really relaxed vibe.   After a quick ceremony, we headed out onto the patio for a toast and cocktails.   Being  a smaller, intimate wedding the guests were those that were really important in Josh + Paul's life and it really showed in the emotions and connections between everyone.

Stirling Room Wedding

Spencer + Jonas

Spencer and Jonas had an amazing fall wedding at the Stirling Room in Toronto's Distillery District.

These two really focused on having the wedding they wanted... a late ceremony (featuring a ring warming, something Ii've never seen before!), a few quick portraits and then straight into dancing and a great party at one of Toronto's best nightspots.   Even dinner at the reception was stand up food stations (mmmm.... sliders & tacos!).   The party and dancing were some of the best yet this year, it's without a doubt my favourite part of the wedding to photograph!

Fermenting Cellar Wedding

Here are some of my favourite wedding detail pictures from a wedding at Toronto's Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District.

The wedding was coordinated by the fantastic Tara O'Grady of Bliss Events.

I wish I could share more pictures from this great wedding but the couple is very private and of course I'll respect their wishes.

Tannery Wedding Photographer

Jennifer + Ian

Jennifer + Ian had a great wedding this summer at Waterloo's Tannery Event Centre

First off, a huge shoutout to Sath who did an amazing job second shooting as well as their wedding planner Afzia of Style & Elegance Wedding and Events.

Jennifer + Ian both attended and work at the University of Waterloo so the campus played a huge part in their wedding (and their engagement pictures!).

I started the day at Voila Salon in Waterloo with girls for hair and makeup while Sath met up with the guys at their house for some getting ready pictures.

We then met up for a first look at the Breithaupt Building and then some more wedding pictures at Victoria Park in Kitchener.

The reception was held at Bingemens Tannery Event Centre in the old Lang Tannery buildings in downtown Kitchener.  The space is stunning with massive video screens on every wall!

Andrea + Chris | One King West

Andrea + Chris had such an amazing wedding at the One King West Hotel in downtown Toronto!

Andrea is actually the cousin of one of my past brides... I always love going to a wedding where I see past couples and their families.  You can see Andrea + Chris' engagement pictures here!

I started the day off at Andrea's parents house with the girls getting hair and make up done by Toronto Beauty Group.  One of the great details of the day was Andrea carrying the lift ticket for the ski hill from their first date in her purse all day!

I'd like to thank Kevin Lam, a great photographer, for hanging out with Chris and the boys before the ceremony and getting some great pictures.

The ceremony was a great mix with both families having a priest help at Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ Catholic Church.  From there, it was off to James Gardens in Etobicoke for some family and wedding party pictures.

After fighting some toronto traffic, we arrived for cocktails, a few more pictures and the reception in the grand ballroom.  The reception had the traditional Lithuanian Bread, Salt & Water as well as the Sakotis cake!

There were some great speeches and then a great party!  (I love a good party, probably my favourite part of the wedding day)
